Equity and Inclusivity Listening Sessions

Making CAF2020 More Equitable & Inclusive

We know that our individual and collective efforts to build community resilience to the impacts of climate change will only be successful if we meaningfully prioritize equity and inclusivity in adaptation policies, programs, and investment decisions, as well as authentically engage community members from underserved and historically marginalized communities.

In order to best shape and leverage the 2020 California Adaptation Forum to support these efforts, we conducted a series of Equity and Inclusivity Listening Sessions to gather early input from those leading on-the-ground initiatives to advance equitable solutions prior to launching program planning activities. Participants included community leaders from underserved populations, tribal leaders, environmental justice advocates, and equity experts and practitioners, who shared their perspectives, lived experiences, and expertise to help us prioritize and integrate equity and inclusivity at the Forum.
